Otter Town News - Week 5

🦦 What's Happening Next Week

Get ready for an exciting and busy week at Ortega Elementary! Mark your calendars for two fun events coming up this Thursday and Friday.

📸 Picture Day

  • When: Thursday, September 17
  • Look out for order forms coming home in your child's backpack, or order online

Spirit Day: Sports Day!

  • When: Friday, September 18
  • Students are encouraged to wear their favorite sports shirt or jersey and show off their team spirit!
  • Kids can wear professional teams, college teams, or their uniform for a team they currently play on

Just a friendly reminder that the morning drop-off lane works best when everyone is prepared! Here are some ways you can help make this happen and keep things moving smoothly:

1. Pull to the front of the drop-off line to let your student out. Please do not park or unload at the ramp that leads up to the staff lot. This really backs up the line and prevents Ortega staff from parking.

2. Have your student ready to exit the car (Shoes on, backpack with them, jacket on, etc). Drivers should remain in the vehicle. If your child needs help with unbuckling or unloading, please make sure someone else in the vehicle can help them, or consider parking to unload rather than utilizing the drop-off line.

3. Only right turns are allowed out of the parking lot. Please do not hold up the line by trying to make a left turn.

VOTE YES ON MEASURE T! Measure T will be on the November ballot and it will renew an existing parcel tax that provides critical funding for Pacifica School District. Measure T will provide funding for:

  • Library Media Techs (Librarians) at all of our schools
  • School counselors
  • Continue to ensure Outdoor Ed is free for all of our 5th graders.

Popsicle Sales

Sign up to sell popsicles after school on Wednesdays. Through October 7 there are two shifts: TK/K volunteers report to the PTO office at 11:45 AM, and grade 1–5 volunteers report to the school at 1:00 PM. From October 14, when TK/K dismissal moves to 1:15, there is one shift for the whole school — report to the school at 1:00 PM.
