School supplies for the 2026–27 school year

What your child needs for 2026–27 depends on their grade. Here’s the short version for each.

Entering TK through 2nd grade

Teachers are asking families to buy supplies and send them to class. Check the TK–2nd grade class lists for your child’s teacher — the lists differ by classroom.

Entering grades 3 through 5

Teachers have asked that families contribute toward classroom supplies instead of buying specific items individually. We’re asking for $30 per student. With those contributions your child’s teacher buys the supplies for every student in the class.

Two reasons this works better: every student ends up with the same supplies, and teachers get the materials they actually prefer. We also think it’s easier on families — one contribution instead of an evening in a crowded aisle comparing glue sticks.

How to contribute

You can send $30 per student by Venmo (@OrtegaSchoolPTO) or by Square.

Please write “school supplies” in the note or comment. That’s the only way we can tell your contribution apart from a general donation, so it reaches your child’s classroom.

What grades 3–5 still need to buy

These stay on your list — they go home in a backpack every day, so they’re personal:

• Backpack
• Snacks
• Headphones
• Water bottle
• Lunch box

What you can skip for grades 3–5

Your contribution covers all of this, so there’s no need to buy any of it: baby wipes, paper towels, binders, pencils, crayons, pens, dry erase markers, Post-its, erasers, rulers, folders, scissors, glue sticks, Sharpie markers, hand sanitizer, staples, highlighters, tape, markers, tissues, notebooks, and Ziploc bags.
